There Are Two Versions of What Happens Next

There's a version where you show up on surgery day having done nothing but wait. You follow the discharge instructions. You do the exercises they hand you. You hope for the best.

And there's another version.

One where you already know what questions to ask your surgeon. Where your home is set up before you ever need it to be. Where you've named the fear that's been sitting in your chest at 2 a.m. — and you know what to do with it instead of just carrying it.

That second version isn't luck. It's preparation. And that's what Rooted Recovery is for.

Suzie

Why learn from me?

Hi, I'm Suzie and I've had 12 surgeries, including two knee replacements of my own — and those two taught me two very different things.

The first time, I didn't know what I didn't know. One PT appointment, a handful of home tips, and it revealed what I should have prepared for — physically and emotionally.

The second time, I did it differently. I planned. I trained my muscles beforehand. I knew what to ask and what to expect. And the fear, the frustration, the heavy days — they were still there, but they were so much more manageable because I'd actually prepared for them this time.

This is why I built The Rooted Recovery Resource: to give you the preparation I didn't have the first time.

My goal? To hand you the information — what to ask, what to expect, what actually helps — and let you take what's right for you and leave the rest.

Here's What Rooted Recovery Gives You

Everything I wish someone had handed me before my first surgery.

Your Vision, Before the OR

Get honest about why you're doing this and what you actually want on the other side of it — because you can't recover toward something you've never let yourself picture.

What's Happening in Surgery

Full or partial. Robot-assisted or traditional. Cutting through muscle or working around it. In plain language — before you're on the table.

The Muscles That Carry You

Quads, hamstrings, glutes — the Big 3. Simple movements to start now, so your body already knows how to work with you.

Food That Actually Heals

Protein, hydration, minerals — not a diet plan, but fuel for repair. This gets skipped, and it matters more than people realize.

What to Do With the Fear

The 2 a.m. thoughts. The "am I going to be okay." Real tools — journaling, affirmations, faith if that's part of your life.

Your Home, Ready

Bathroom. Bedroom. Kitchen. Car. The small setup details that make the difference between struggling and moving with ease.

What This Will Cost You

Insurance questions to ask before surgery, not after the bill shows up.

Week Zero & Day Zero, Mapped

The final countdown, so surgery morning feels like something you're walking into — not something happening to you.
