Yetter Getter Recovery Methods

One small change before everything changes

Before the exercises, swelling, or recovery timelines, prepare the one thing that will shape every single day of your recovery… your thinking.

Because recovery isn't just physical.

It's how you learn to think through everything recovery brings.

That's what the Yetter Getter™ Recovery Method is all about.

The thoughts we have

You generate thousands of thoughts a day. Most of them slip by unnoticed — especially when you're preparing for surgery or moving through recovery.

So the emotion always arrives first.

Frustration is the number one emotion in recovery. I felt it through my own replacements, and hundreds of women have confirmed it since. But it's not the only one. There's the fear of the unknown. The quiet worry that maybe you won't recover like everyone else — or that everyone else is doing better than you.

And there's the sadness that shows up as a loss of independence, watching other people do the things you can't do right now.

Whatever the emotion is, there's always a thought behind it and a lot of those thoughts are really stories that our brain tells us. Most of them are not facts at all

They're thoughts.

That distinction is huge.

Collecting the Right Evidence

Your brain is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Our brains are meant to protect us.

We have a survival brain. It's scanning for danger.

That's why it notices:

  • ❌ swelling
  • ❌ pain
  • ❌ setbacks
  • ❌ stiffness

before it notices:

  • ✅ you slept an extra hour
  • ✅ you bent one more degree
  • ✅ you walked farther
  • ✅ you needed less help

There's nothing worng with you. This is just what brains do.

It's protecting you. Recovery requires learning to notice different evidence.

The Right Evidence

Is where you are going. The swelling is evidence. The stiffness is evidence. The bad day is evidence. All of it true. None of it the destination.

The right evidence is where you're going — and right now, you probably haven't written it down. So let's fix that. This is where you get to design your own recovery.

DESIGN YOUR OWN RECOVERY

Start asking yourself these questions.

Why are you getting this knee replacement?

Not…To stop hurting. Go deeper.

  • How do you want feel?
  • What does life look like on the other side of healing?
  • What are you doing every day? Who are you with?
  • What are you wearing?
  • Where are you walking?

This is your future. Everything is created twice — once in your mind, once in reality. Your knee is going to hand you evidence every day whether you ask for it or not. This is the evidence you get to choose.

The Yetter Getter Recovery Method

Every sentence assumes you're headed there. It creates curiosity and causes your brain to consider an alternate scenario

The wrong evidence gives you limiting beliefs. I'll never get my range back. I'm the one who won't recover right.

The right evidence does something different. It makes you curious.
Because once you know where you're going, today stops being a verdict. It becomes a location. You're not stuck — you're just not there yet.

That word does all the work.

I can't kneel — yet.
I'm not walking the trail — yet. I
haven't gotten back on the floor with my grandkids — yet.

Same sentence. Same swollen knee. Completely different meaning.

This is what I mean when I say we don't ignore our feelings. You're allowed to be frustrated. You're allowed to have a foul few moments that make up a day. We're not talking you out of any of it.

We're just giving it a different perspective — one built on what you know is true instead of what today happens to look like.

Your circumstances aren't a problem to solve. They're a place you're passing through. You can live with them, because you know where you're going.

That's the YETTER GETTER mindset. And that's who you are.

That's the POWER of YET.

Notice What Healing Is Showing You

Recovery always gives you evidence.

Which evidence are you paying attention to?

The Yetter Getter™ Recovery Method teaches you to notice the evidence that healing is already happening.

Because the more evidence of healing you recognize… the more confidence you build.

And confidence changes recovery.
