Knee pain, knee surgery, knee replacement, total knee replacement
I have a Yetter Getter Attitude which, in sum, means I am committed to success no matter what. So, when I learned that it wasn’t my knee that was the problem postop, my imagination ran wild and spawned this little story of…The neighborhood.

I wrote  this at three months post op on my right knee….

This knee (right) is rehabbing quite different than my left.

it’s seems, a beautiful adventure is in process…

The way I see it, the new guy, Ti, just moved in and the nieghbors (quad, glutes, IT band, calf, and foot) are none too happy.

It seems, Ti, parks in the street when he’s not supposed to (acute pain) and he leaves his trash can at the street for days (pain behind the knee).

Don’t even get me started on the constant dog barking (ache) in his backyard.

Even my foot has begun to complain. It seems, because Ti won’t stay in his yard (stay at zero extension consistently), my calf and hip flexor lash out and get very tight due to Ti not staying straight.

Because Ti won’t mind his lot lines (straight) the calf and hip cannot properly stretch as they should causing an all out riot in the neighborhood!

So, basically, everything is cold and a good cup of hot cocoa (heating pad) does wonders.
The police have also been through a few times (tennis ball) and it helps keep the neighbors  (quad, glutes, IT band, calf, and foot) quiet. They don’t seem to complain as much.

Now the trick is to get Ti to stay within his lot lines, so the neighbors don’t get mad (hip and calf tightness).

The Cocoa (heating pad) is working well, but sometimes the police (tennis ball) do a drive by after the cocoa has been served to make sure the nieghbors are happy.

All in all, the neighborhood is more quiet than loud. That’s what I am most thankful for.

How is your neighborhood?

I wrote this so you would have an idea of the amazing regeneration that is happening in your body! And, also, so I could maintain sanity while I was recovering. Also, my upbringing on Saturday morning Warner Brothers Looney Tunes inspires my imagination to run wild. If you haven't already seen my other creation, please check it out HERE.

Meet Suzie Andrade

I was 41 when I was told I needed a knee replacement and that my other knee would likely follow.

I stopped playing softball.
I stopped walking just to walk.
I stopped using stairs and curbs (yes, even curbs!).
I stopped parking far from the store just to get in extra steps.

One day, I was on the beach, walking through sand and cursing every painful step. I wanted to walk to the water, but it was too far. That day I drew the proverbial line in the sand and decided enough was enough.

I had my left knee replaced at 45, my right hip at 46, and my right knee at 48.

I had no idea that in that pain I would find my purpose. Each of those surgeries taught me something deeper about resilience, strength and courage—and how faithfilled we really are when we keep moving forward.

But I also learned something else: there are huge gaps in the knee replacement adventure. There are things your doctor or physical therapist don’t tell you—because they’ve never lived it. I have. And I know what it takes to build resilience, find courage, and walk faithfilled through the hardest moments.

That’s why I created the Yetter Getter Mindset and why I show up every day as your Holistic Knee Replacement Coach. You don’t have to walk this road alone any longer.
